Epimorfotiki Kilkis, as lead partner, successfully organized the inaugural meeting of the project "SUMTS - Surveying and Mapping Technology for Smart Cities" (Grant Agreement No 101183185), in the framework of the European ERASMUS+ programme. The meeting took place in Thessaloniki, from 10th to 12th of February 2025 and was attended by representatives of educational institutions from Greece, Italy, Jordan, Egypt and Tunisia. Epimorfotiki Kilkis was represented by the Director, Panagiotis Amoiridis and the members of the European Programmes team, Pericles Kosmidis, Ioannis Graikos and Tatiana Iliadou.

In the meeting, the overall vision and objectives of the project were presented, with an emphasis on the expected results and impact of the project. SUMTS aims to modernize the vocational education and training offered in Jordan, Egypt and Tunisia, by integrating innovative technologies (3D Surveying and Mapping Design) into the curricula of initial and continuing vocational education and training in the fields of surveying and mapping and to upgrade the knowledge of those already employed in these fields. The integration of these technologies, with the assistance of the European partners, will further contribute to the creation of smarter and more sustainable cities and improve urban planning and infrastructure management.

In addition, the organisation of the project management and the quality control mechanisms that will help ensure its coherence and effectiveness were discussed in detail. The partners went into the project's communication and dissemination strategy and its financial management.

The next project meeting is scheduled to take place in Jordan in November 2025, where the progress of the project will be evaluated.
